FindingTaigh Bhe

When approaching Tolsta Chaolais from the south (Stornoway or Tarbert) about a mile north of the village of Breasclete you will see a sign (Tolastadh a Chaolais) indicating a left turn.
Follow this winding single track road and you will eventually descend to a small bridge where to your left you will see the sea "Loch Roag" and to your right, the fresh water "Loch A Bhaille".
Continue up the hill until the road turns sharp right and follow the road through the village past the meeting house and war memorial on your left until you see the white "Old Post Office" on your right.
The next buildings you will see after the "Old Post Office" on the same side are three bungalows more or less together. Taigh Bhe is the middle house. You will be able to park off the road, as indicated in the photograph.
The house should be ready for you by 3pm on your day of arrival.
Getting In !
We don't use the front door so if you go to the back of the house you will find a the back door with a small key safe on the left hand side door post. You will have been given a code for this so if you pull down the front cover of the safe, enter the code and press the two buttons on either side of the box it will open and reveal the house keys.
When you leave, simply reverse this procedure.
As a tip, I find it easier to unload smaller items from the car through the middle bedroom window. Saves traipsing everything around the house!

Once inside ...

You should find everything that you need. All bed linen and towels are provided and the beds will be made up.
The kitchen is well equipped and I have been adding bits and pieces as requested by previous guests so you should find everything that you need.
There are instruction books for most of the appliances within a brown folder in the sitting room.
You should find the BT router switched on and the code to enter into your Wi Fi device is also contained within the folder as well as on the removable plastic tab on top of the router (9a924fd6ff).
If you are unsure about anything please just contact me and I'll be glad to help.

Miscellaneous
Mobile phone coverage
Coverage has improved greatly recently however the most consistent seems to be provided by O2 and Vodaphone. For others you may have to step outside!
Sheep!
The village is very much a working one and livestock abounds! Sheep are a particular nuisance at certain times of year and will try anything to get into the garden in order to sample the flora and leave their mess behind. I would ask that the gates be kept closed at all times to keep them out.
Sundays
Many of the village's residents observe the Sabbath and it is considered disrespectful to engage in any particularly noisy activities on a Sunday. This is when we pack up and go to the beach for the day!
The local Hotel, The Doune Braes, is open every day including a Sunday. The food is good and the bar well stocked and visitors are sure to receive a warm welcome.
Shops and Petrol Stations
The nearest shop of any size and petrol station are in the village of Leurbost, approximately 10 miles towards Stornoway. There are others but the best bet is stock up in town once or twice a week.
There are also mobile shops such as a butcher and a fish van which come to the village about once a week although you would need to ask about current arrangements.
Refuse
The bins are collected every second Monday. the wheelie bins need to placed at the roadside with the handles facing outwards first thing on a Monday morning.
